Constitution of the United States

CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES.

Amendments, Article I.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of Religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the Freedom of speech, or of the Press, or of the Right of the People peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It seems a pity that the intelligence of the police throughout the country should be taxed by the enormous effort to learn these few lines from the Constitution. But in view of the persecution of our comrades and friends in Chicago, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Boston and countless country districts from policemen, sheriffs, marshals and all others possessing a little brief authority, we must reiterate, “Read your Constitution.’ Every cop, bull, dick and gum-shoe in the land should have a copy of this pasted on the front of his hat. We will gladly supply the copies.
